About Dr. Victor Chan

I Want To Help You To Develop A Body That Gives You Confidence

Since 2014, I have been practicing at the SCIMEDICA Health Group clinic in the South Surrey/White Rock area. During more than 20 years of clinical experience I have worked closely with physiotherapists, registered massage therapists, chiropractors, kinesiologists, and other health care practitioners. I welcome all patients with various health concerns to my practice.

Background

Before becoming a naturopathic physician, I obtained a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Pharmacology and a Master of Business Administration degree in Health Administration. I then went on to graduate from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine where I was awarded the President’s Award of Excellence for my contributions. Upon graduation, I was quickly elected to the board of the Canadian Naturopathic Association (now the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors) where I sat on the Government Relations and External Communications committees. I also served as co-President of the British Columbia Naturopathic Association (now British Columbia’s Naturopathic Doctors).

My Treatment Approach

My treatment approach has evolved over the years and has been shaped by what I have learned from the patients I have cared for and by the “Integrated Medicine” model of my colleague and mentor, Dr. Timothy Brown, ND. Using the principles of naturopathic medicine, I focus on the individual patient (not the disease) and apply a mixture of therapies to address the patient’s nutritional deficiencies, allergies/toxicities, structural injuries, and mental/emotional stresses. This supports and stimulates the body’s natural healing ability and optimal health is restored.

Special Interests

One of the things that drew me towards naturopathic medicine is the eclectic nature of the profession and I enjoy using a wide variety of treatment modalities to help my patients achieve their health goals. As a life-long sports enthusiast and athlete, I have pursued my interest in sports medicine and the treatment of pain and injury. As such, I have taken countless hours of additional training and I am board certified in a number of advanced therapies including acupuncture, IV nutrient therapy, trigger point injection therapy, and prolotherapy using platelet-rich plasma (PRP).
