Food Allergy Testing – IgG Blood Spot Allergy Test

Burnaby Food Allergy Testing

We all know someone who has a clear food allergy. Right after they ingest the food that they are allergic to, there is a clear sensitivity reaction with symptoms such as tingling, itching, or rash. This is referred to as a Type I immediate hypersensitivity reaction and is mediated by the IgE immunoglobulin.

Even though you may not experience any obvious, immediate sensitivity symptoms, could you also be sensitive to certain foods that are having negative effects on your health? The answer is, “YES”. The body can also have Type III delayed hypersensitivity reactions where IgG antibodies are produced for several hours or days after exposure to a food allergen.

Unfortunately, even though delayed hypersensitivity is more common, conventional allergy testing does not capture this. By consistently eating foods that irritate your immune system, this can cause low-grade inflammation in the lining of the gut. As a result, antibody-allergen complexes escape into tissues and cause more food allergies. This is a condition commonly referred to as “Leaky Gut Syndrome”. Therefore, anyone with leaky gut should be tested for food allergies and anyone with significant food allergies may need to be treated for leaky gut.

Therefore, even though you may have already been tested for allergies you can actually have unidentified delayed hypersensitivity to foods that are causing conditions such as:

  • Headaches
  • Hypertension
  • Asthma
  • Seasonal allergies
  • Frequent colds
  • Eczema
  • Joint pain
